Starting November 2019, NRTC will begin the implementation of Universal Call Blocking (UCB) for all incoming voice calls. In Telecom Regulatory Policy 2018-484, the CRTC has mandated all carriers implement UCB with the aim of reducing the number of nuisance calls.
Overall, this will be positive for NRTC's customers. However, it's important to understand that calls dialed by you or intended for you or your company may be blocked. UCB disrupts any calls originating from calling party numbers that are non-conforming calling numbers. As per CRTC’s directives, UCB will block all calls where caller identification (i) exceeds 15 digits, or (ii) is malformed and does not conform to dialable number for calls initiated under the North American Dialing Plan.
